The University of Sheffield played host to the 2nd MakeY workshop on 4-5th July 2017. Professor Cathy Burnett and Professor Guy Merchant from Sheffield Hallam University delivered a presentation on their research and experience of working with teachers. Representatives of the consortium partners presented their team projects, and Mark Shillitoe, Maker Educator and creative technologist in the Netherlands, engaged the participants in an exciting workshop with the use of, among other resources, LED Stickers, which made for some sparkling conference badges!
It was exciting to see the various teams focusing on a variety of approaches, from the creation of new makerspace formats, to virtual reality, projects with schools, libraries, museums, and the fostering of parents’ involvement.
By the end of the workshop, firms plans had been made for the projects, which will take place between September 2017 – June 2018.
