Report on Meeting 2 – Sheffield, 3rd – 5th July, 2017
The University of Sheffield played host to the Summer School and 2nd MakEY workshop on 4-7th July 2017. Professors Cathy Burnett and Guy Merchant from Sheffield Hallam University led a training session on participatory research with teachers, and Professor Jennifer Rowsell and Professor Anne Burke from Canada led a session reflecting on multimodal analysis of makerspace data. In addition, Mark Shillitoe, Maker Educator and creative technologist in the Netherlands, engaged the participants in a workshop in which they learned new skills and approaches using a range of maker resources.
MakEY conducted an open day in collaboration with the International Literacies Conference hosted by the University of Sheffield, School of Education on the 5th July. There were 48 attendees from around the world.
The event has seen a presentation by Professor Cathy Burnett and Professor Guy Merchant, from Sheffield Hallam University, on their research, and a workshop delivered by Mark Shillitoe, Maker Educator and creative technologist in the Netherlands.
